New ‘Shishu Grih’ Inaugurated in Shahjahanpur to Provide Child-Friendly Police Environment

SHAHJAHANPUR – In a move aimed at making police stations more accessible and less intimidating for children, a new “Shishu Grih” (Child Home) was officially inaugurated at the Banda police station in Shahjahanpur. The inauguration was performed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), who also distributed candies, chocolates, and biscuits to children present at the ceremony.

A Step Towards Child-Friendly Policing

The new facility is a significant initiative in line with the spirit of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Human Rights Act. The primary objective of the “Shishu Grih” is to create a safe, supportive, and dignified environment for children who visit the police station, particularly those who are victims or witnesses in a case.

During the inauguration, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) emphasized the importance of a sympathetic approach when dealing with children. He directed the staff to ensure that the children’s emotional and mental security is prioritized, stating, “Public trust is our greatest achievement, and every small initiative in that direction is extremely important.”

The facility is designed to serve as a secure space where children can feel comfortable and protected, free from the fear and stress often associated with a police station. The inauguration was also attended by local police officers and the Circle Officer of Puwayan, who praised the initiative as a commendable step towards strengthening the bond of trust between the police and the community.
